AMPLIFY TRIAL

A Safety and Efficacy Trial Evaluating the Use of Apixaban for the Extended Treatment of Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism.

Study Phase III

Purpose

Is to evaluate the effects of an investigational blood thinner, apixaban, in preventing venous thromboembolic (VTA) recurrence or death in patients who have completed their intended treatment for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE).

The study population will include those who meet the following inclusion/exclusion criteria, some of which are:

Inclusion criteria

1. Men and women > 18 years of age.
   
2. Signed & dated, written informed consent to participate in this study.
   
3. Clinical diagnosis of DVT or PE.
4. Anticoagulant treatment completed.
5. No recurrence of VTE.

Exclusion criteria

1. Subjects with indications for long-term treatment with vitamin K antagonist.
   
2. Active bleeding or high risk for serious bleeding.
   
3. Short life expectancy.
   
4. Uncontrolled high blood pressure.
   
5. Impaired kidney or liver function.
